Laura Correa De Almeida

In June 2026, during Head Start WEST’s First 1,000 Days! Early Head Start Conference, we asked attendees to share a sixty second Head Start story.

This is Laura Correa De Almeida from SETA

“My name is Laura. I am from SETA. I wanted to talk about a family that we had in our center-based program, and their challenge was that they were not able to pay their utility. They had fallen behind, and so our shift was that we were able to bring community partners directly to our center to share about their services. And thankfully through that, the family was able to receive a low income discount on their utilities. And they are also referred to a program that was going to help pay their balance and get them back on track. And this is why I do the work I do, because you never know who you could help and help that one family who may not have gotten the services without it.

So I’m really just asking for everyone to check. and learn about Head Start and to just refer to any families or community members that they feel might benefit from it.”
