In June 2026, during Head Start WEST’s First 1,000 Days! Early Head Start Conference, we asked attendees to share a sixty second Head Start story.
This is Beatrice Rosario from Los Angeles Education Partnership
“Hello, my name is Beatrice Rosario, an early childhood educator at Los Angeles Education Partnership. A family in the program enrolled her two-year-old boy, her second child, who was seeking assistance with her child’s speech development at the time of enrollment, who only used hand gestures to communicate with family. Before early head start, mom was not aware of services available to her and her child. Having her first child not needing assistance, she needed help searching. What changed was that through the program of Early Head Start, mom received one-on-one assistance and guidance through resources and services that helped with extra support to her child and aside from our home visits. After only a period of seven months, child is now speaking in one or two-word answers, is repeating new words, and is clearly communicating with family. Thanks to all the support from Early Head Start and their guidance to receiving extra support from Regional Center for speech assistance. That’s why I show up, because every child and family, especially in low-income communities, need assistance through guidance for resources that are crucial for children’s development.

I have been to management workshops, not leadership training. This has totally changed my perspective and encouraged me to propel forward in developing my skills.
I am honored and humbled to be a recipient of the Head Start WEST’s Legacy Scholarship. The scholarship helped me get one step closer to achieving my goal of becoming a Head Start Director.
I took part in The disproportionate impact of COVID 19, and how to provide “real” support for black/brown children and families and I just want to say this was an amazing webinar. I hope we can look forward to further conversation on this topic.
Thank you so much for making events like this! I really enjoyed and learned so much teaching strategies to implement STEM in the classroom.
The HR Network was an excellent opportunity to network and learn the best practices from other HR professionals within Head Start programs. You will be amazed by the level of talent and experience of the participants.
The Summer Camp training was powerful and inspiring! Each presenter was very engaging, it’s hard to even pick a favorite session!
The Leadership Challenge training was very relevant to my work as a Head Start leader! Great facilitation; stayed with the program yet allowed time for individual and small group reflections.
