In June 2026, during Head Start WEST’s First 1,000 Days! Early Head Start Conference, we asked attendees to share a sixty second Head Start story.

This is Angelina Goleno from Lake Family Resource Center

“Hello, my name is Angelina. I work for Lake Family Resource Center, and the reason why I chose my position, I’ve been working for children for over seven years with the experience of helping out my local church and also helping out an after-school program. Pursuing that career, I wanted to help out children. My childhood was not all rainbows and colorful, but I did have role models and such amazing, loving parents who I really look up to. My father, who has taken care of all three of his children, me and my siblings at the age of five. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be where I’m at now. Besides all the childhood experience that I have experienced and hearing the children’s stories who I have helped out over the years of my career, I want every child to have the same opportunities just like any other children and not having to deal with the childhood that I’ve experienced with my mother not being around as much and just want kids to just have a better future because that’s what the children are. And hopefully this message comes across whoever listens to it. You guys have a wonderful day and take care. Thank you.”
