Head Start WEST (HSW) is excited to invite you to submit a proposal to present at our Family Engagement Conference, to be held in person and virtually in the Hilton Waikoloa Village October 12-16, 2026.

The Family Engagement Conference is designed to elevate the importance of building strong, supportive families that are equipped with tools and resources to secure a better future. This professional development event focuses on deepening the impact of Head Start programs on family economic stability, child development, and access to supportive services.

Our 2026 Theme: Holding the Family Story.

This year, our areas of focus will align with Head Start’s Parent, Family, and Community Engagement Framework for family outcomes—including

  • Family Well-being
  • Positive Parent-Child Relationships
  • Families as Lifelong Educators
  • Families as Learners
  • Family Engagement in Transitions
  • Family Connections to Peers and Community
  • Families as Advocates and Leaders

While also elevating the other four key HeadStart.gov topic areas:

  • Family Engagement
  • Curriculum
  • Wellness/Health
  • Cross-Cutting Approaches
  • Leadership

For our Family Engagement Conference, we will be offering a variety of formats to support deep learning and connections among attendees:

  • 90-minute Education Sessions – Introduces concepts and strategies, panels, and discussions, in-person
  • 45-minute Education sessions – Introduces concepts and strategies, Virtual live via Zoom
  • 60-minute Education sessions – pre-recorded
  • 6-hour pre-conference workshop- Limited space available (October 13). Please email Melissa Sahagun msahagun@headstartwest.org if you are interested in submitting a 6 hour pre-conference workshop.

We are also excited to welcome in-person exhibitors and sponsors. We will have space for table displays networking time and opportunities to connect with your resource providers.  We will have a limited number of Education Sessions dedicated to our Sponsors.  Contact the Melissa Sahagun for more information.

Please note, you may request a double session. We prefer the sessions to be “part a and part b” so that attendees can gain greater content from the same source.  Presenters may also submit multiple sessions.  A maximum of three sessions will be scheduled.  Individuals applying to offer a product or organization linked session are welcome to apply.  A limited number of sponsored sessions may be scheduled.  Sponsorship fees may apply.
