Luke joined Head Start WEST as a Communications Intern in September 2026, bringing a strong interest in education, public service, and advocacy. He is currently a student at California State University, Sacramento, where he studies International Relations.

Prior to joining Head Start WEST, Luke spent four years working with the City of Santa Cruz Community Development Department, where he supported efforts to advance affordable housing projects and gained firsthand experience in local government and community development. At Sacramento State, he served as Vice Chair of the City Ambassadors, helping connect students with government and community leaders and encouraging greater civic engagement. He has also advocated at the California State Legislature for continued investment in higher education, an experience that strengthened his commitment to expanding educational opportunities for students.

Education has been a constant throughout Luke’s life. Growing up in Arizona as the child of two public school teachers, he saw firsthand the important role educators and educational institutions play in strengthening individuals, families, and communities. This background, combined with his experience in public service and higher education advocacy, drew him to Head Start WEST and its commitment to educational opportunity.

Through his work with Head Start WEST, Luke is excited to continue developing as a communicator and advocate while contributing to a mission that reflects his longstanding belief in the power of education to create opportunity and strengthen communities.
