June 23 and June 25, 2026
Were you unable to attend our pre-conference on June 8, The Core of Site Operations: Building the Right Team? Great news, we have shifted this training to a virtual format.
Join Dr. Desiree Del-Zio Walker on June 23 and June 25, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM PST for a dynamic two-day virtual leadership retreat created specifically for site directors and middle managers. This six-hour interactive session is designed to strengthen the connection between organizational strategy and day-to-day program operations.
Site directors and middle managers serve at the critical intersection of leadership vision and frontline implementation. They support staff, children, and families while navigating operational realities that are not always visible to executive leadership.
This virtual retreat provides dedicated time for reflection, alignment, collaboration, and professional growth. Through guided discussions, reflective exercises, and peer learning, participants will explore practical strategies to strengthen communication, build resilient teams, and improve organizational outcomes.
Grounded in principles of trust, psychological safety, and productive conflict, the session encourages participants to move beyond artificial harmony and engage in honest conversations that strengthen teams and support healthier workplace cultures.
Participants will leave with practical tools and leadership strategies that strengthen communication and alignment between organizational leadership and frontline operations while supporting the growth, resilience, and professional development of direct service staff. The session will also focus on fostering trust, psychological safety, and productive dialogue within teams while helping leaders navigate operational challenges with greater confidence.
Throughout the retreat, participants will explore ways to elevate field-based insights, successes, and needs to better inform organizational decision-making. The overall goal is to build stronger teams that create healthier programs and better outcomes for staff, children, and families.
This session is designed for site directors, middle managers, program leaders, operations leaders, supervisors supporting direct service teams, and emerging leaders within Head Start and other mission-driven organizations.

I have been to management workshops, not leadership training. This has totally changed my perspective and encouraged me to propel forward in developing my skills.
I am honored and humbled to be a recipient of the Head Start WEST’s Legacy Scholarship. The scholarship helped me get one step closer to achieving my goal of becoming a Head Start Director.
I took part in The disproportionate impact of COVID 19, and how to provide “real” support for black/brown children and families and I just want to say this was an amazing webinar. I hope we can look forward to further conversation on this topic.
Thank you so much for making events like this! I really enjoyed and learned so much teaching strategies to implement STEM in the classroom.
The HR Network was an excellent opportunity to network and learn the best practices from other HR professionals within Head Start programs. You will be amazed by the level of talent and experience of the participants.
The Summer Camp training was powerful and inspiring! Each presenter was very engaging, it’s hard to even pick a favorite session!
The Leadership Challenge training was very relevant to my work as a Head Start leader! Great facilitation; stayed with the program yet allowed time for individual and small group reflections.
