DESCRIPTION:Head Start and Early Head Start staff are challenged with juggling the needs of children\, parents\, and co-workers as well as the myriad of tasks necessary to meet performance standards and organizational goals. Our work is both urgent and fast passed as well as very emotional.  Because of passion and determination\, Head Start achieves great outcomes.  Organizations that are high functioning believe strongly in the power of leadership is everyone’s business.  From the director to the new assistant teacher\, from accounting to family services\, well-lead teams do extraordinary services for their constituents.  The Head Start WEST (HSW) believes strongly in the notion that we must build strong agencies that sustain both clients and staff.  Since 2016\, we have set out to strengthen the leadership skills of staff.  We regularly bring forward The Leadership Challenge Workshop\, coaching utilizing the Leadership Practice Inventory\, and ongoing networking of our leadership community. \n

The Executive Leadership Council serves as a crucial network during these challenging times. \nWho\nThis network is designed to facilitate the sharing and discussion of information from credible sources\, stakeholder insights\, and effective practices. Each agency in Head Start WEST has its own unique systems. In this collaborative space\, we welcome Chief Executive Officers\, Executive Directors\, Chief Financial Officers\, Chief Operating Officers\, Superintendents\, and similar agency leaders. Head Start directors are also encouraged to attend along with their agency’s executive leadership. \n\nWorkforce Summit\nWhy\nEarly childhood programs\, including Head Start and Early Head Start\, are navigating a period of significant complexity. Workforce shortages\, leadership turnover\, increased compliance expectations\, and ongoing recovery from community and environmental disruptions are placing unprecedented strain on systems and staff. \nAt the same time\, expectations for high-quality services and accountability continue to grow. \nHead Start WEST’s Workforce Summit creates a critical space to respond to these challenges together.
